Stevens & Bolton Trustees Ltd (SBTL) is the corporate trustee of Stevens & Bolton LLP (LLP). SBTL is wholly owned by the partners of the LLP who in turn provide all legal, compliance and regulatory work for SBTL.
Whether a trust is simple or complex, legislation is placing an ever increasing burden upon trustees to comply with complex regulation and disclosures to the relevant authorities. Professional trustees are held to a very high standard in the performance of their role and have significant experience in compliance with all regulatory frameworks, together with the legal and administrative areas required to effectively manage a trust.
SBTL accepts appointments as a trustee, executor/administrator and deputy in a range of contentious and non-contentious situations. The appointment of SBTL is free of charge – there is no cost to the structure for having a corporate trustee. SBTL is an independent trustee able to offer impartial advice that may be difficult for other trustees.
The team has a deep understanding of personal tax, trusts and probate law with a keen understanding of the commercial deal in play.
THE LEGAL 500
Acting through the LLP, SBTL is able to provide a seamless level of service particularly when it comes to accounting, tax compliance and regulatory matters. These services are provided through the LLP’s dedicated trust compliance and administration team to ensure that SBTL meets its obligations. In addition, because SBTL is wholly owned by the LLP it is able to call on the LLP to offer legal advice in connection with any of the trusts/executorships that it is appointed to. This of course does not prevent SBTL from seeking advice outside of the LLP to the extent required. This includes investment management advice.
In addition to SBTL acting as a trustee/executor, the LLP also provides standalone advice and services to trustees/executors where SBTL is not involved. This allows the LLP to offer a tailored level of advice and administration where the full service offering of SBTL is not required.
