Welcome to our latest edition of Business Bridge, written for busy entrepreneurs; providing commentary and interviews on current legal and commercial issues affecting growing businesses.
COVID-19 has of course been the focus for businesses over the last few months but, as the economy emerges from lockdown, many businesses are taking the opportunity to reflect on their strategy and their impact, both from a financial and societal perspective. This edition therefore focuses on sustainability in business and the aspirational values of having a positive impact for all stakeholders.
With increasing importance being placed on environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors by both investors and the government, our team provides some helpful ideas when considering a sustainability strategy - from the importance of having a dedicated sustainability focus as part of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, to thoughts on corporate governance issues, the rise of sustainability-linked loans and energy efficiency in construction.
There are also two guest interviews – firstly with Thomas Bourne, Founder and Principle Consultant at Greenheart Consulting, who talks about ESG issues and B Corp certification; and the second with Andy Stephens, Head of Sustainable Food at COOK Trading, who provides an insight into their corporate values and the practicalities and benefits of being B Corp certified.
Happy reading and please do let us know if you have any comments or suggestions for future editions.
