Stevens & Bolton LLP has advised OakNorth on its financing of MC&C Media Limited (“MC&C”), a private equity backed data analytics media agency.
Founded in 2001, MC&C offers advanced data analytics to its clients, providing media consultancy while also acting as an agent principal on behalf of clients for the purchase of media space across various platforms. Its data and insights arm, MUSE, focuses on unlocking and utilising clients’ customer data to develop highly effective growth strategies spanning beyond media placement and audience segmentation. It was this proprietary technology that last year helped the business attract £6.6m of investment from KCP, enabling it to expand its offering worldwide.
OakNorth is a bank that provides fast, flexible and accessible debt finance to fast growth businesses and established property developers / investors, and Stevens & Bolton continues to act for them on a wide range of transactions.
Stuart Blair, Debt Finance Director at OakNorth, said: “The UK’s advertising market is one of the largest and most established in the world. The sector has continued to grow steadily over the last seven years, being driven by the move from more traditional platforms such as TV and print advertising to online and social. MC&C has been in a prime position to take advantage of this trend towards digital through the development of their proprietary data science and insights arms, MUSE. The team is incredibly experienced, has a clear USP in a growing market, and a clear vision for the future. Stevens & Bolton played an integral role in helping us deliver the financing to MC&C. We continue to build on our existing relationship with the finance team at Stevens & Bolton and have created a new relationship (with Laura Barrett) as part of this transaction. We look forward to continuing working with both Laura and Andrew on upcoming deals”.
Laura Barrett, an associate in Stevens & Bolton’s banking team, commented “We are pleased to have played a part in helping OakNorth fund MC&C. This was my first transaction with OakNorth since joining the firm earlier this year and it was great to start building a relationship with Stuart, Fabien and the rest of their team. I look forward to working with them again in the future”.
The Stevens & Bolton team was led by associate Laura Barrett and managing associate Andrew Dodds.
