Stevens & Bolton LLP has advised longstanding client OakNorth, on its financing with private equity firm Baird Capital to fund the acquisition of Collingwood Lighting. Collingwood Lighting is a fourth-generation family-owned business with a market-leading position in the design and supply of luminaires to the professional refurbishment and new-build markets in the UK and France. They hope to further their European presence with Baird’s help and support.
Commenting on the deal, Stuart Blair, debt finance director at OakNorth, said: “Collingwood Lighting is a well-run business with an excellent reputation for providing high-quality LED products, service and support. In Baird Capital, they have found a partner with extensive knowledge and experience of operating internationally, as well as a strong track record of investment returns over a sustained period. We are delighted to have supported the management team and Baird on the acquisition and we look forward to working with Baird Capital on future transactions. This is one of several deals we have done this year with private equity firms who have invested in everything from bar chains to recruitment businesses and Stevens & Bolton continue to support us, providing us with commercially sound and technically excellent advice”.
Andrew Dodds, a managing associate in Stevens & Bolton’s Banking & Finance team said: “This is a great deal for Stevens & Bolton to be involved with alongside OakNorth. It was a pleasure to support Stuart, Fabien Bonavia (Legal) and the rest of the OakNorth team on another high-profile sponsor backed finance transaction”.
The Stevens & Bolton deal team comprised Andrew Dodds (managing associate, Banking & Finance), Laura Barrett (associate, Banking & Finance) and Luke Stewart (trainee solicitor, Banking & Finance), supported by Nassar Nassar (Corporate) and Rachel Collins (Employment, Pensions and Immigration).
