Webinar: recent and upcoming employment law changes - what employers need to know

There have been a number of changes already this year, including changes to flexible working, paternity leave and additional protections from redundancy during and after maternity leave, changes to information and consultation under TUPE, as well as the introduction of carer’s leave, a Code of Practice in relation to fire and rehire and a new proactive duty to prevent sexual harassment. We will explore what these changes mean for employers.

We will also look at the key changes on the horizon. The recently published Employment Rights Bill sets out a significant and ambitious agenda of employment law reforms, with some describing it as the biggest shakeup of employment rights in a generation. But where does this leave employers?

In this webinar we’ll dig beneath the headlines to consider the practical implications of the reforms and potential unintended consequences.

The key reforms that we will discuss include:

  • Protection from unfair dismissal from day one of employment
  • Extended duty to prevent sexual harassment and liability for third party sexual harassment
  • Restrictions on fire and re-hire
  • Wider application of collective redundancy obligations
  • Greater predictability for those on zero-hours and other casual contracts
  • Expansion of family friendly rights and of the right to receive statutory sick pay
  • Enhanced rights for trade unions
